Default Transmission Oil Question

Shifting from first to second in my 180 FWD TTR is not as smooth as I would like it to be.

I am considering changing the transmission oil to Red Line's. Would that solve the problem?

What grade oil should I get, and how much?

I would appreciate comments from your experience.

Default Do not worship Brands!...

What is wrong is the stuff Audi pour into the gearbox, two liters of Mazola like oil (somebody describe it like that long time ago in this Forum), or less (in my case it was less than a liter and a half).Mobil, Penzoil, Redline, Silkolene, etc. All of them work if they are synthetic and 4/5 Spec. Stop that BS about brands, please !!! Use the one that suits you best.

Default Redline Will "void warranty", per Audi

I too thought the shifting from first to second sucked (and still does compared to virtually every car I've ever driven). I had the stock fluid professionally analyzed by a trusted lab, and it showed a high concentration of metal shavings in there, much higher than it should have been for a brand new car. I changed the fluid to Redline MTL, and alot of the grinding went away, though it still does grind from time to time.
BTW, Audi's pathetic customer service drones stated that changing the fluid to Redline would "void the warranty of the transmission." I informed them of the non-viability of the stock fluid and asked for a Audi-sanctioned alternative. They just repeated the same line as if reading from a manual. Jeez. Audi. Like the cars, hate the company.
