TT build - first time Audi owner
This will be my first TT build, my goal will be to have a trackable weekend cruiser. I'm still deciding on some components however im set on swapping out the rods and running the stock crank and pistons. im leaning towards the frankenturbo setup.
I boughht an 02 Quatro for 800.00. The poor guy had just finished paying off his loan and blew the motor. I guess he couldn't afford to fix it. Two days later i found an 00 Quatro with a bum turbo but a running motor. This guy had no title so i got the whole car for 200.00, i didnt even bother asking why there was no title. I did run a vin check and no red flags so good to go. They are both 180 hp versions (not for long) the 00 has the 20mm wrist pins.
Ive already pulled both motors and so far looks like my plan is working out. I pulled the blown motor today, looks like sludge and poor oil change intervals took this one out.

Check out my son's thread from about two years ago. Yes, forged connecting rods are a must....

I just got off the phone with the guys at RAI Motorsports I may have them do the engine build for me. I was debating on doing the build my self however I've never done one. I don't doubt that I can do it and I have all the necessary tools. Perhaps I'll just take the block and head to a machine shop and save a few coins by doing a DIY build.
any advise out there?
Thanks

Placed orders for the first batch of parts
One last bit ordered and this gets installed before I do any more work on the car.
- Delete kit from URO Tuning
- Coilovers from CXRacing
- I know these are budget coilovers but they will do for now.
- 3" downpipe w/high flow cat
- SS Cat-back kit

- Bendpack MDS‐6KF - Flush mount mid rise car lift.

Made progress on the garage today - Car is in the air.
Machine work should be wrapping up late next week so I can start building my motor. Now that the car is in the air I can start on the suspension and exhaust work while waiting on the motor.
