Default So if I accept the mods will I be able to tell the difference in my daily driving? (more)

Most of my driving (fwd TT) is done on surface roads and crowded freeways and I rarely go above 75 mph.

Default Here goes....

The first one "Cathedral Prop" I think refers to strut/wishbone/suspension modifications and the subsequent firming up.

The second one "Tilger" I believe refers to the ballast in the rear of the car. I believe this only applies to FWD cars and not the Quatttos. I'm guessing here...

Default Re: TT Modification FAQ...

Nachrüsten means (Auto etc) "to refit" or (Kraftwerk etc. (power station)) "to modernize" or (Waffen (firearms)) "to keep up to date". This is from German/English dictionary I picked up in Vienna.

I don't believe so, but we won't know for sure until the mods are released and tested (nt)

Default Re: "Cathedral Prop"....

This is about the strengthening rod between the front strut towers, which silently crept into all TT's this late spring after a US test procedure (speed-breaker?) made it neccessary for the US market. The mods will not include a mounting of this rod in older european TT's.

Default Questions for Marius re: strengthening rod

Marius, can you provide more information regarding this rod? What exactly is its function? Is its installation considered to be a plus or a minus? How does it change the TT's handling character? Is it likely that the first wave of U.S. TTs, such as mine, have this? TIA.

Default Re: It's human nature but...

The unintended acceleration issue was a total non-legimate issue. After all the damage done, NHTSA finally said the Audi's had a lower incidence of the problem than GM cars. Thought everyone got the word from our government that the Audi car was not at fault, only the drivers.

Default Thanks (more)

When I first saw "cathedral prop" mentioned a few weeks ago I thought they were talking about the interior cabin tunnel brace, that is until this "exclusively relevant for US vehicles" was mentioned. Is this the off-axis impact test? Also how does the FWD "ballast" weight work. If this is what it took to get 50Hz first mode bending then I am disappointed by the approach. Anybody have more info?
