Default TT rattle

Anybody have that annoying rattle in the right rear of the coupe when you hit a pot hole, RR Track etc. I suspected the plastic parcel area cover but it doesn't appear to be loose!! It sounds cheap and is driving me crazy!! Car & Driver mentioned it in the extended TT test a while back but they couldn't find it either.

Default I have the same problem, and then some.....

The seat-back on the drivers side sounds like a cricket in heat whenever I hit a bump. Not to encouraging for a car with less than 2000 miles on it.

Also, my car is at the dealer so a control module on the Haladex (sp?) can be replaced. When the brakes were applied for the first time after starting the car, the ESP light on the speedo would stay on.

I hope things look up from here.

Default It is the Rear privacy shelf

I had the same problem, and it got worse over time.

Had it replaced under warranty at my 10K service.

The replacement now rattles only after going over significant road defects. Otherwise, it is now silent.

The noise just started for me too. I will have it looked at when the 5k service comes around.

SchoTT: Is it internal to the shelf or is it the fastening points that rattle?

Default It is because of how the two halves of the shelf connect together...

If you do a search, you will see this has been extensively discussed. The only way to completely get rid of the rattle is to either remove the shelf, or take it apart and glue it back together with silicone.

Right now mine is sitting in my garage while a new one is on order. Maybe once I am out of warranty, I will pry one apart and silicone it back together. For now, I will just keep ordering new ones when I go in for regular service.

Default rattle and squeek?

yeah...mine creaked and squeeked while going over even the most insignificant bumps...audi replaced it. the tech guy @the dealership said its a VERY common problem. he says the problem will probably come up again, since its pretty much a design flaw; 2 plastic pieces sandwiched 2gether is not a good combination. o well...the price of luxury...

TT rattle, that's redundant. Don't make yourself crazy, you won't find it. Germans are very clever

Default What on the inside DOESN'T rattle?

It could be the rear privacy shelf or the tools in the hatch.

The interior of the TT leaves a lot to be desired integrity wise, as I often say when I have to hold the ashtray with one hand to stop it from rattling...
