that is coming from the engine compartment, only started happening recently

Default I *THINK*...
it might be the DV (in my humble, un-knowledgable opinion). I get a *pssshstttt* sound when I pull my foot off.. noticable more now then when I first got the car.

is it loud or soft? if it's soft, it was fixed when i replaced my dv.

Default My guess would be that you are having the distinct pleasure of experiencing the 180 FWD
lift off rattle feature. It plays back up music to a faulty DV. Do you have OEM DV? The Forge completely got rid of this awful noise in my case.

it has an OEM DV and it is pusging 30,500 miles, do you still think its the DV?

Default it sounds like a loud roulette wheel but not loud enough to be a
cylinder-knocking noise

Default Probably...roulette wheel sounds right. Hey, have Audi put in the N version so you have a
functioning OEM DV, see it that works first....if not, then Bailey or Forge. Mine sounded more like floppy cake pan.
