TT resale value/production numbers?

TT resale value/production numbers?
OK, so I just test drove the S4, a 225 TT and a A4 1.8T and I put a deposit down on a 225 TT. I got the TT for $300 off MSRP and they threw in this "Autobahnd" clear protectant on the nose of the car. (Anyone know about this? I figure if it's good enough for a 911, it's good enough for my TT) Seemed like an ok price, given the waiting list and all...
Anyway, I'm concerned about the resale value of the TT - sure they're somewhat unique, but once demand dies down and everyone has one it seems like the resale value will plummet. Especially if a V6 TT is ever released (didn't I hear that rummor somewhere?) $39K for a fancy looking four-cylinder car seems a little pricey now that I start thinking about it... Sure it *looks* unique, but so does a PT-Cruiser And the Ford Tarus was pretty "out-there" too when it was released
The S4, on the other hand, although not quite as in demand as the TT, seems to offer more stuff for the buck. An the older S4's have held their value very well (not to mention A4's).
Anyone happen to know how many of these cars (TT/S4) Audi is planning to produce? Anyone sold a their TT with more than 10K on it?
In any case, I was sold on the TT the minute I first saw the ad in C&D way back when... I guess I'm just having some jitters.
Also - is the transmission the same in the TT225 and the S4? I found the TT easier to drive, but I figured it was just because it had less torque.
Thanks much for any comments or advice,
Eric

Your questions were similar to mine and one of the reasons I chose to lease.
Yes you pay a little more over time however if resale value drops considerably you have the option to simply walk (in 39 mos in my case). There is less uncertainty about the cars overall reliability and long term performance now then when i took possession in May of 99 but maybe a lease would address your concerns?

Don't forget my own experience last week with "value".....(more)
In the process of establishing the "payout" value for my 180QC last week, when my TT was declared "totaled", State Farm told me they used the "Blue Book" value. I had 5011 miles on the car on the day of the accident.
I took delivery of my 180QC mid-October 1999. The value of the car just before the accident on 21 June 2000 was determined to be about $3800 MORE than I paid...and I paid MSRP flat!
Just my own 2 cents' worth...

Is there actually a blue book value on the 2000 TTC? I've looked it up on the Kelley web site many times, but it always says the model is too new to establish a blue book value. Confirmation please!

I found the same thing on their web site....(more)
...but State Farm claimed to have used the "Blue Book" value. I didn't press them for details since the number was so favorable to me.
They calculated value of the car on 21 June 2000 + taxes + title + license fee and came up with a value almost $3800 over what I'd paid for my 180QC in October, basis MSRP + taxes + title + license + destination charge + dealer prep. It was a VERY good settlement.
But I checked the Blue Book web site for confirmation and got a message saying that the value for the 2000 TT's wasn't yet available because of limited sales of used cars.
