You are correct. In the real world the 32 eats M3s for breakfast, I am happy to say.
0-60 in 4.5 seconds is not myth, and the car dynos above its 349 hp rating.
Oh, and this whole thing about quality ... As the previous owner of an SLK230 and a 225 TTR, and the current owner of an SLK32, Audi has quite a way to go before it matches Mercedes in quality and service, IMNSHO.
I mean, c'mon, guys ... Let's be real.
I still love the TT, but let's not compare apples and oranges. Oh, and I guess everyone's heard about the minor issue of BMW engines blowing up?

Thank you SO much... For putting real perspective on this!
Not to mention again (though you already did) that the AMG 32 engine can be made A LOT more powerful with just a chip and pulley, whereas NOONE wants to touch the M3 engine because it is beyond maxed out already! AMG all the way baby! It is not even close between AMG's and M's. The AMG will pull on it all the time. Especially in the triple digits. The M engines have NO torque!

Couple of 32 'kill' stories: (courtesy of the MBnz board)
"He passed me up on the freeway, he was going pretty fast so I hung on his tail and waited for traffic to clear. We were weaving around the slower cars, but not that fast, certainly not dangerous, at one point he got behind some slower cars and I pulled ahead in another lane so he tucked in behind me. As soon as the traffic cleared I stomped on the gas pedal and I smoked him. He must have been in a high gear, but the 32 just pulled and pulled. We must have started around 60mph. I didn't have the nerve to look down on the speedo. I came to my exit and he followed me and pulled up next to my car. Asked if mine was the supercharged V6, I said yes, and all he could do is say f'n awesome. He said he couldn't gain ground on me and he was really trying. This car totally rocks. BTW, never turned my A/C off."
And another:
"...coming down a parkway and at an intersection saw a new M3 pull in and I passed him...he sped up weaving in a bit of traffic pulled hard directly behind me and as we cleared traffic (I was smiling...open road and no cars..)he pulled up next to me and gave that bad *ss smirk look at me and downshifted and floor car...I slapped stick from 5 to 3 and floored too...blew by the M3 so fast I was even suprised...he could not even begin to follow me. Since he did the smirk thing I slowed down to pass along a little smile ;-)...here is the kicker...he is banging on the steering wheel of his car acting like it was the M3's fault...arrogant idiot."
