I have a "00 180Q with a "tunking" noise coming from the driver's side rear wheel or axel. This noise is getting more prevelant and is not speed related, it can happen just rolling or at speed going over bumps, and not major bumps just road variations. Not loud but the same level regardless of speed. Of course it never happens when I am going to the dealer. Sometimes I think it's something loose on the wheel or maybe a bearing but I can't see anything obviously wrong. It is completely stock and original with 42k on it.

slow in speed like thunk every second for short while then stops..is this the sound?

Yeah, kind of. What about related to bumps thought. It is affected by road bumps.

Drove it yesterday for a bit and it isn't the fuel pump. I would have to agree and say it has always been there but getting worse now. How many other people have this noise?

I have the same damm sound it sounds as if its the brakes chattering but i put the carr on a lift and reviewed the underside and then took off the wheel and the sound came from the cover around the disc brakes! ever time i hit a bump or a deep groove in the road i'd hear that metal rattel Soo i ripped all thoose shi#$y disc "protectors off"!
