UPDATE to my 'Belkin' iPod dock connector post, for iPod users only
I now have a source for this dock connector, to be used with my adapter.
This one.

I'm in the process of updating my web page to sell an iPod specific model, using this connector.
This would plug into the bottom of the 3rd Gen. iPods, to provide power and audio-out from the iPod.
Let me ask you something. See the pic?
I can provide a male 3-cond plug that plus into the round barrel-type for Audio, and a FireWire plug that plugs into the rectangular one for power, These would be on a cable that then routes back to the changer area.
Would you rather see and use this type of plug system, or would you rather see the iPod dock cables fully spliced into the main cable (black) that goes back to the adapter box?
(Like the pics on the bottom here, this is NOT the cable I'm getting but it would be spliced in the same way.)
Do you think that having 2 sets of connectors on this cable out of the iPod is too bulky?
Would you use this white iPod cable separately?
Use it for a FireWire connection to your computer?
This way with the 2 sets of connectors, you could also use the audio line as an input for some other audio source, (phone, portable CD player, etc.)

is the other connector, a USB port? >>
if you're selling an ipod specific cable...it should have power going through it somehow...that way, there's less wiring and hassle to get it clean, without having to route a few more wires.

If I had a choice I would rather have only one line coming from the ipod...I like the
setup we did using the belkin charger. I dont use the cd player much at all now that I have the ipod though.

I don't know if I quite understand the questions but...
I would think that I would like fewer wires, but only if the single connector would still power/charge the iPod.
Personally, I have all the cables that I need for using the iPod at home since it came with FireWire and USB cables.
