Default UPDATE: Spoke to AoA about me broken rear window / top

got a call back from the person dealing with my case .
She spoke with the dealer and pretty much reiterated what he said.
Said since she and he both have to get the same person to approve it, that i will have to go through my insurance.
She also said since the dealer has no idea how it actually broke that they would not cover it.

However, she did say that if my ins would not cover then the dealer said they might be abke to cover it.

this is what now annoys me.

the dealer said he has seen this before, so its not completely unheard of that it happens.
they also say that if my insurance wont cove rthen maybe they will.

If it was black and white, then i would just call up my insurance and get this started asap, but these 2 grey areas have my inclined to think that they have covered these in the past and will cover it, but rather take my insurance money.

now im waiting to here back from a supervisor

Default just tell them ins. won't cover it! i'd rather aoa cover than to make a comprehensive claim

on insurance and have it on my insurance record

Default without the dealer back up they can claim you put something there to break it

if it were me (and I'm sorry Danny's having these problems) and the dealer said "no" I'd have told my insurance co someone tried to break in - thus covered with no problems (other than poss premium increases)

Default That sounds like a "Pass the Buck" line..>>

If AOA won't cover it, what motivation does the dealer have to help you out? You didn't buy the car there....They'd be a couple of grand out of pocket.......I would pursue insurance.

Default Contact a windsheild repair service

About a year ago the windshield on my wife's RAV 4 cracked. She did a yellow pages search and found a local company that would come to our home and replace the windshield for about $225 installed and guaranteed not to leak. That was a fraction of the price the dealer wanted.

I was home when the guy came to do the installation and I asked him if they do other glass or only windshields. He indicated they do all auto glass.

I would suggest you try an independent company locally to see if they can do your rear window. The window must be installed into the top when the top and car are manufactured, so it would seem logical that the window can be replaced, provided that the part is available..

If I were in your situation, I would give a few yellow pages calls a try. It could prove to be the least expensive and least hassle method.
