VW asks for Audi help in finishing the new D1
Also mentions the new Polo to be introduced this month at Frankfurt.
Hey Dani, sure you don't want to wait for the all new 2003 Golf based on the 2002 Polo? Thought I'd torture you since I know how long you've waited already!

http://autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=carnews &loc_code=index&content_code=00869770</a

Actually, this is quite common for VAG to use engineers from the various divisions, especially since
the D1 and A8 will share a common platform. The new Golf will NOT share the same platform as the new Polo - although the new Polo will be just slightly smaller than the current MKIV Golf. One thing to keep in mind with the new platform sharing technology, it will be much more modular in nature. For example the new Audi A4 has the longitudenal mounted engine while the new Passat based upon the same platform will have a transverse mounted engine OR a longitudenal engine depending on the engine choice. Also the new MKV Golf will share front suspension components with the Passat, the Passat will not retain the existing front suspension that it currently shares with the existing A4.
