Default Western road trip question...

So, I'm about to embark on a 3 week road trip out west in the TT. A "last hurrah" of sorts. I've got a number of destinations already planned out, but thought I'd ask here if there are any "can't miss" spots that aren't as well known.

I'm planning on Colorado (rocky mtn. natl. park), Utah (Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, SLC), Arizona (Grand Canyon, Phoenix), Cali (Sequoia Natl. Park, maybe Napa Valley area).

Anyone have any other ideas? Good roads to drive are also especially welcome here- I'd love some good twisties to have fun on, since I don't get any of that here in Illinois.

Thanks for the suggestions in advance.

Default How 'bout Las Vegas. Also, there is something called Hot August Nights in Nevada. URL ->

I've never been to one, but I've seen the aftermath. Pretty impressive cars!

Default Mesa Verde, Needles area of Canyonlands, Saguaro Monument in Tucson, Death Valley...

is interesting and has lots of space for driving really fast. Truly hot in DVNP this time of year, but that makes it exciting IMO.

Default Don't miss Zion..

.. hike the stream into the Narrows to cool off, and when you visit Bryce, hike down into it, it's even more surreal.

Default hills of Sonoma County

There are some great drives from Napa County out to the coast. When will you be out here?

Default Mesa Verde, definitely Mesa verde (not intentionally doing >

Rainman imitation) Mesa Verde is terrific...also did anyone mention grand canyon, navajo tacos at the Tuba City truck stop, Canyon de Chelly if you're in Az and the drive from Flagstaff to Sedona via the canyon (is it Oak Creek? Someone out there, help me). I love the west--great drives! enjoy!!

Default If you're out in SE NM, drop me a line.

I can show you a couple observatories and some
local twisties. I'm up the mountain from Alamogordo
which is a couple hours North of Las Cruces, just
past the White Sands, which is also a cool place
to visit.

Default Monument Valley & Canyon de Chelley

Mesa Verde is fantastic too as posted previously. Canyon de Chelley in NE AZ used to be a little secret but has really caught on in recent years. If you go to Grand Canyon, definitely do North Rim instead of South Rim.
