Default MTM and OCT are the only games in town right now

both horribly expensive using outdated technology, and delivering not so great performance for the cost...

Default Knowing what I know....very few individuals have a full knowledge of

the Bosch motronic system, I wouldnt trust my car with a superchip reprogrammer...Those guys get great #'s on domestics no doubt, but a custom turbo with out the right programming or a stand alone set up will make you miserable, and cost you more than you would probably be willing to spend in tuning/dyno time...I am sure others will chirp up on this and correct me where needed...

Default For some reason I think its more their advisted 360hp...

Every time I think about the runs my friends do with their S4s, I can't help but laugh because the numbers are BS.. ABT says with their S4 chip your looking at 310hp and 370ft-lbs while APR says 318hp 382ft-lbs.. In the real world, an APR chipped S4 will get smoked pretty badly by an ABT chip, but how could that be, apr claims their chip puts out more HP.. And thats the same case with the MTM chip which is supposedly 306hp with 368ft-lbs which is much less then APRs.. You would think that the car running less hp would lose in a race on the highway but for some reason thats not the case.. My friends have done a significant amount of chip swapping and the results are amazing.. The APR car was always the slowest.. No matter what car the chip was in, it always lost.. As for being horribly expensive.. yeah, I agree with that one..

Its an example of why you shouldn't give company released numbers so much credit..

Default Well, As I recall Sean's Dyno was right in line with claimed power...

I dont think APR is out to rip anyone off when it comes to claimed power...thats not to say the euro tuners arent conservative...this could be very true...

Steve and myself did some runs with my car last week and with a bit of calculation my #'s were right where APR claimed...infact a little better...

Variation is going to be a curse on all our cars some are simply stronger than others..unless all the motors are hand built, production variances will create these differences...

Default I didn't say APRs numbers are boosted.. Just seems MTMs and ABTs are conservative..

I have no idea.. As for my friends tests being off because of car or drivers variations.. Like I said.. we swapped chips to make sure things were too far off, and the conclusion was, they weren't.. We know they aren't because in our APR & X-chip shootout the x-chipped car always pulled a certain amount of cars..
