Default What was the answer to avoiding the copy protect on some CD's?

It's really making me angry.

I just wanna put another damn CD on my iPod, and I can't get any program to rip it -- or copy it, for that matter. =/

without copy right there would be no music, film, book etc. - infact not much of any business ...perhaps you can't "rip" it because the extent of legal use has been used ..

Default Yeah, okay. But I don't have a CD walkman, and I do have an iPod.

I rarely even PLAY CD's anymore...

The fact that I now have an album that is very inconvenient to listen to.

I could just get online and download it without a problem, but I actually paid for it. There's a problem there...

Default There is no copy protection on any CD...

to do so would violate the red book standard, and it would therefore not be a CD. Philips is quite strict on the matter.

If a store sold you one of those pieces of plastic as a "CD," they're guilty of fraud. Return it for a refund as the defective product it is.

Wired article.

Default Chris, found this on the interent and have heard it works, but never tried it.

It can be bypassed by holding the shift key every time the disc is inserted, turning off autorun before using the CD for the first time, or manually disabling the driver software as described below. I believe most of the information in this report is also applicable to the new release.

Default Copyright is on the content, not the medium...

"fair use" fully covers moving copyrighted works between media.

Avoid copy protection by pirating the music. "My friends" say songs off p2p networks always work.
