Default What are the differences between 225 and 180 cats?

OEM cats seem like a total waste of money when Universals are like $80 a piece for the 180. Any input on a route to take if I want to replace? Looks like there are a healthy number of stock 225 and 180 cats out there to purchese used, good or bad idea? Plus can the 225 bats be used on a 180?

Default go universal and have a muffler shop do it

used cats will have the same problem eventually.

Default Pretty sure 225 cats won't work on a 180q

Trying to search and find some pictures but haven't had any luck. But it does sound like the tubes in the downpipe are different sizes so I'd imagine the cat's wouldn't line up properly. Unless someone says otherwise I'd say it's not going to work.

Default Milltek also carries stocks for the 180 and 225 Quattro

The differences are the flange from the downpipe to the cat and the O2 sensor positions.
225 on the left and 180 on the right

Default They look identical to me (have a set of 180's sitting in the shed), but won't mount

because the bolt positions are slightly different. But the cats themselves look physically identical.

Default One fits on the 225 TT and the other fits on the 180TT.

They are not interchangeable.
