up some wheel bolts for SSR competitions and they gave me wheel bolts that measured 20mm from 1st thread to end of bolt. Is this the correct length? Seems like I can go a little longer. The tech said that I don't want it too long or else it will hit the rotors.

Default measuring that way you might be ok; usually you measure from the seat of the bolt >

Default Well, measuring from the seat of the bolt only gives me another 2mm...>>>

so about 22mm total. Do you think this is still safe and ok to use or should I go back and return for longer bolts?

Default It also depends on the thickness of the wheel. SSR could probably tell you.

I also think I remember something about the number of threads required to provide the proper friction & clamping force. I want to say 7. & looking @ GorTT's pic, that looks about right.

Fitting the bolt to the wheel I can count about 9-10 threads so I think this should be ok.

That should be more than enough. Must be a thin rim!

How many threads does OEM bolt extend past OEM rim? That will answer your question.

The rule of thumb is that you need the same length of threads engaged as the bolt is in diameter.
