Default What are your tire recommendations ?

I need a new set of 225/40/18 tires for a ALMS 225 TT, and I've been looking on tirerack.com, but I see no standout picks for the TT. The car has the 18" OE wheels on it, with Pirelli Super Sport tires that have been a little noisy, so I've been looking around for something else. What types are you running, and how do they do? This car will drive mostly on the highway, but mountain roads also, so I'm looking for something that would help the TT grip in turns and things. I have been looking at the BF Goodrich KDW's, but I know of no one who has them on a TT for a recomendation. So Bridgestone, Kumho, Dunlop - what are you running, and how well does it perform on the TT?

TIA

Default ePuffy has KDWs on 19s...

I've driven his car and they're smooooth and quiet. I think people like the T1-S around here. New T1-Rs should be good too.

I have BFG KDW 2's size 225/45/18 on my TT. I think they are fine. As far as noise they begin to make a low howl about 85 mph on my car, but since the speed limit is 65 mph, it is my signal to back off a little to avoid the green stamps from the smokey bears...

Default Dunlop 9000's on the TT and Toyo T1-s on the GTI

Dunlops - Quiet, comfortable, great wet grip, not the stickiest tire in the dry or on the track. Great highway cruiser and the wet performance is unbelievably good in cornering and braking.

Toyo's - great track tire, super crisp turn in's and ton's of grip. Loud and somewhat harsh as a highway tire, but performance is first rate. OK in the rain, but not great.

Dunlops seem to be wearing a bit better, but both are doing better than previous Pilot Sports and S0-3's I've owned.

Default Love my Falken ST-115s.....

and I've had Pilot Sports and Pole Positions S03s. Much cheaper, quiter, and just as grippy. Can't go wrong.

Default I like mine>>>

BFG KDWs. I've had them since April and I'm loving them. Handled very nicely on the Dragon at TT East. They're quiet. Treadware rating of 300. And a decent price. Plus they have a funky tread pattern which I think looks pretty good.

I'm guessing there are better tires out there if you're planning on tracking the car, but for everyday use I think they're really good.
