What's the best way to convince your bitter I mean better half you need to mod your tt?

Add 35% to the cost of every mod, and use that 35% to buy her something nice.
That way, she gets gifts and is happy, and you get to mod your car and are happy.
It's the expensive option, but it's also almost guaranteed to work. ;-)

I see it as real simple. If you are honest up front, and your partner understands that this hobby makes you happy, then its should not be an issue.
If you do things a little different, and bring them flowers (12.95 from the local stop and shop) once in awhile for no reason at all...take them out to dinner, on a whim, then all is good....
Of course this comes from someone who posted below to buy a diamond ring for your significant other....;^P

I remind mine about how much DIY work I do on the cars and home........
For example:
Complete brake job, rotors, pad, and fluid costs me $250 total. Dealer wants a $1000+.
Ignition control module bad on 2 Passats. Cost me $400 for the 2. Dealer wanted $600 each.
New brake pads: $100 to me, Dealer wants $300.
Brake fluid flush: Cost me $10. Dealer wants $150.
Personally design and build deck on back of house. Materials cost me $2500. Quotes were for $8000 to $10,000.
Personally finished 1500 sqft basement in same finish and materials as 1st 2 floors of house. Cost me $6000. Quotes were $25,000 and up.
Buy 3 Dell SC400 servers and build into 3.2 ghz,1GB ram, 200gb HD, 16xDVD burner, ATI AGP 256 video, FP displays. Total for 3 built by me was $2400 total. Equivalent Dell systems were $1800 each. Savings were $3000.
Learn to be a DIY guy and then you have lots of reasons to spend whatever you want on mods.
