Default Wheels

I have 19" Oettinger wheels on my TT and would like to paint the inner part to match the car. These are two part wheels held together with 16 bolts per wheel. My research to date ranges from "once diassembled you must replace all bolts (@$4.50 ea) because they have stretched" to "you can't possibly do this youself so send them to us and we'll be happy to do tis for you" (@$150 per wheel plus shipping). Firstly these are steel bolts threaded into AL so can they possibly stretch before they tear the threads out and secondly, the $150 isn't so bad but the shipping and customs fees are.
Any thoughts out there ? Any ideas on reassembly specs ie. torque, use of loctite etc.?
Thanks

Default I think your right, It would seem that the wheel itself would be at more risk than the bolt.

What does the manufacturer say? I would defer to them.

Have you talked to any local wheel repair shops?

Yes. Their suggestions ranged from "don't bother to take them apart, just mask them off and paint right over the bolts (a reputable BMW shop) to "we can't give you any advice as we would be liable but we would be happy to do them for you". I would prefer to do this myself (a two part wheel ought to come apart and go together without a tremendous amount of magic,as I assume they were initially assembled by mere mortals without God's helping hand) but I am very surprised by the lack of expertise/information out there ranging from Oettinger to so called reputable wheel repair shops.
