For all the valves that fail what will you see, feel or measure when you inspect the failed valve?

For example does the spring rate change?

Does the "seal" not seat correctly?

I don't remember seeing any analysis of failure modes.

In stock DVs, there are no springs, rather a diaphram(sp?) which cracks or breaks apart.

In aftermarket valve a melting of the piston or failure of the o-rings seems to be the culpret(sp?)
