If you have a good dealer in your city, nothing beats using them.
You'll get a good used car--more than likely with all the service records right there, usually certified pre-owned up to 100,000 miles, you'll usually get a free loaner for all your service visits, and probably get a better interest rate if you finance. Taking into consideration the extra amount you'll be paying, and then factoring out all the hassles, time SNAFUS and the like, I feel like you can come out ahead by using the dealer--that's what they're there for.
