Default Won't start after rebuild! HELP QUICK!!!!!

2000 180QTT

oK, Timing belt failed, rebuilt head, 12 new valves, re-assembled per Bentley reverse procedure.

Checked all connections, hoses etc., installed new battery (it sat for 6 months)...

Car won't start, just turns and turns...

Procedure I followed for adaptation was:

Disconnect battery, wait 10 minutes
Reconnect battery
turn key to on leave on with d-door open for 10 min
Reset radio code, perform window reset
attempt to start without touching gas.

This didn't help, car still turns over, and I hear the audible puff from the exhaust so I believe I have compression. Pulled the fuel line, and there is fuel at the rail.

When I turn the key to 'on' without starting, the EPC light comes on. My thought is that the car is still in some protection mode that won't let it run.

Anyone can help, please call me. I have to get this thing running by tomorrow. The lease is up on Monday, and I have an appointment with the bank Monday morning to arrange to buy the car, but they want to see it before finalizing the paper work. Major EMERGENCY.

If there is anyone in Central Ohio/Columbus area with a VAG tool willing to help, please call me!

Default VAG-Com is your next step

but (IMHO) planning to sell the car on such a tight schedule after major engine work is a recipe for disaster.

Default I'm trying to buy out the lease, not sell...

The timing of this incident was the worst, but I've got to get it running and to the bank to finalize the loan to buy out the lease.

Default Think F.A.S.T

Fuel
Air
Spark
Timing

Have you checked them? Sounds like you have fuel so on two "A" then "S".....Did you do a compression check after the rebuild?

Default I'm going to check for spark in a bit (at work now) I...

Got the head back Thusday night at 7:45, worked through the night, had the motor back together Friday morning at 6:45. Haven't had time to do anything else but try the soft reset procedure.

My thought was that the EPC code was shutting down the spark. Unfortunately, I don't have a VAG tool to confirm/correct this diagnosis.

Good luck man, as suggested, a compression test seems in order.<ul><li><a href="http://www.steve-hall.com/cgi-bin/VAG-Locator.pl">VAG-com locator</a></li></ul>
