Aside from the two TTs in my garage, we have an Escort and a Saturn wagon that my wife and I use to drive to work. When we got the Saturn about a month ago, I suspected that the thermostat was bad as the coolant temp never came up to the middle, and as luck would have it, the Escort started doing the SAME thing about a week ago.
So, yesterday, I replaced the thermostat in the 'Scort, then went over to MOBlueTT's house to help him run the wires for his new gauges. Then today, KamalTT came over to my house and we did his smoked corners and dogbone bushings. Then, I decided to tackle the thermostat in the Saturn. Turns out that it's held in by two bolts, both of which were frozen, so I bought an ELECTRIC IMPACT WRENCH....cool toy, and it fixed the frozen bolt problem.
So, all in all good weekend. Got to play with 2 TTs, and got both of the work cars properly working.....
Plus, my wife says, that "I guess all these mods are a good thing because you fixed both the cars with what you've learned playing with the TT for a lot cheaper than what it would have cost to take it to the shop..."
Cool.
