YAFCQ re Giac vs APR
Yet Another Freakin Chip Question
Car = 225 TTRQ
I have read some posts mentioning a drop off of power past 5000 rpm with the APR chip. There has also been mention that this might be due to an intake hose collapsing.
I have read that the Giac chip pulls right to readline but I am not sure whether it was for a 180 or 225 and if 225, whether it just happened to be a car without the hose problem.
So If anyone can shed some light on the following two questions, it would be greatly appreciated.
1) If I have a chip installed without buying a spare ECU, can I buy and configure (immobilizer issues) a spare ECU later? Has anyone done this?
2) Can anyone prove or disprove the Giac vs APR power above 5000 rpm problems?
Thanks

GIAC w/the same 5-6k power issues
But this is not to say it does not still pull up high in the rev band.
Step on the peddle in 5th at 80mph, and this car still takes off much more than stock. I would almost relate to to a drop off in torque than hp. When I want to be reminded of this I do the above and watch the speedo fly past 90.

I have a spare ECU that has been coded to my car.
You have two options. You can acquire your secret code from a dealer and then code your ECU with that, or many of the chip tuners now have a cloning procedure where they can clone your stock ECU onto the chipped ECU so it's immobilizer codes match your car, but with chip software.

FYI I recently had APR update the software in my ECU and suddenly
I am having the same problem. Don't know what that means. APR insists there have been no revisions to their software since the version I was running previous to the update (update was supposedly done to Bosch base software only).
Follow the link below for more details on my case.

Yeah, chipped is still higher than stock.......
Maybe at that rpm the efficiency of the tiny K04 is maxed so it can't blow no more. Hence, the fuel richening. Maybe we are getting hosed by the hose theory. :-)
