Yesterday's Run to Montecito (Lambo/TT and other car content) - LONG

WOW!
Yesterday was a fantastic day for a drive. Spending time with many of the local So. Cal TT'ers and some fine folks with other (mostly way more expensive cars made it even better.
Thanks to Gina for hooking us up!
Cars involved: multiple Lambo's, a killer Nissan 300zx, a heavily modded Supra, a couple of Ferrari's, a Dodge Viper and 9(?) TT's!
Beginning of long post...
For those of you that know LA, we started in Santa Clarita and took the 101 N. to Montecito. This portion of the drive was about 50 miles... lots of passing and great views! (For me, mostly of the rear ends of the 'faster' cars).
While in Montecito, we stopped at Tutti's for brunch - some of the finest Blueberry Corn pancakes and some amazing looking corned beef hash as well as other items were enjoyed by all.
The parking lot was where the action was though. We took over the area in front of the restaurant thanks to the restaurant mgr - Winston, who had blocked off many of the prime parking spaces prior to our arrival. The pics I've linked below don't really do the scene justice. Suffice it to say, we had a nice group of cars and the locals just couldn't seem to get enough of it.
The TT group on the other hand decided to take over the median strip and park on the grass! The local Sheriff that drove by and didn't even think of asking us to move.. he just stared in envy.
The drive really kicked into gear on the way home. The route remains largely a mystery to me, but I know I saw Hwy 192, and 33 signs at a couple of points. With John S. leading the pack, 7 TT's made our way over some of the finest roads in Cali. At safe, but aggressive speeds, we swarmed the mountain in the same way motorcyclists do on mountain roads everywhere... except in this case, we were all Quattro equipped Audi TT's and the sight was awesome!
Never have I developed such a adrenaline rush while in the drivers seat. While the car was shooting thru hard turns and braking like my life depended on it (and it did!), I was sweaty palmed and smiling from ear to ear! Steve (Ttigg) was ahead of me the entire drive of roughly 60 miles (?). Watching his car move through the twisties with tires (sometimes) squealing and the car itself sliding from side to side due to extreme speed was awesome!
When we finally stopped for a much needed bio and breathing break, we all just shook our heads at the unbelievable experience. Amazingly to me, our cars can handle a lot. Never once did I feel out of control, and I was the only car without ESP (but with MK1 suspension) - the car can take a lot more than I was able to give it and we were pushing them HARD!
What I thought was going to be a nice drive to the beach turned out to be a 10 hour and 375 mile adrenaline rush of a trip - a life experience if you will. Yep, told my wife it was was of the funnest excursions in which I have ever been a part. After telling her of the trip, she is simply glad not to of been there :-)
I'll stop rambling now, but to all the attendee's that were there, thanks for showing up and taking part. I hope you enjoyed the day half as much as I did. Gina, when is the next run? I will be taking my DV recorder and mounting it to the top of my car for some exTTreme video footage!
Last thoughts... It's been over two years since I bought my car. I found the Audiworld forum a few days prior to delivery and have been 'on the board' almost daily since then. Great group of folks here. We are lucky to have this forum to share our knowledge, experiences, cooking tips, and jokes with... My ownership experience would be severely less than optimal without you all.

Bulls and Schnitzel Run II - 1/6/2002

Great write up Glen
It was great to see you again and thanks for the "goodies". Was a great day, even though I got chewed out when I got home. The wife was expecting me back about 11.30-12pm as oppose to the 3.30pm!
Still, it was a great drive and one I wasn't going to miss, 192, 33, breakfast, spot in local paper etc etc etc.
Awesome fun, and totally agree about the board oh and BTW - nice collection of albums on Fotki

Go ahead... (more)
In fact... if you go deeper into my Fotki, links from the previous event are there too... here is the link address:

I am also sending the link to Ron Singer - the owner of the 2001 gold/brownish Lambo.
Geez, Herman is a nice guy! He hooked up a 'nuther Lambo brotha with some jumper cables and his AAA card yesterday. Tell him to clean out that trunk though! Too much **** in there! :-)
