I also have a 2002 TT 1.8 225HP. Also have a bad microswitch. The plunger is just cracked and half gone. I checked the Alibaba links above, but the item is no longer available. I found this one on ebay. It does not say it works with the 02 TT, but it looks very simliar. Does anyone know if this will work? https://www.ebay.com/itm/203099900832. By the way, when removing the latch assembly, I didn't loosen the lock on the door (or anything like that). I just unhooked the cable. I hope it goes back on OK.

See my post on 08-12-2014. I used a switch with a little metal "flap". It's a better design where the plunger of the switch doesn't get stressed. You do have to get a little creative with the installation, though. I used plastic epoxy. 7 years later and it's still working!

Which of the three metal tabs did you attach the wires to? Did you cover the bottom with anything?

Uhhhh, yeah, don’t remember which ones I used 7 years ago 😆. I’m sure I just did trial and error. You won’t fry anything.

I don’t remember covering the bottom but you don’t want anything to short, of course.
