ZAINO QUESTION

I've read about using Dawn to wash the car and prep it for Zaino. Is that instead of using the
Z-7 show car wash? Is the Z-7 instead of Dawn?

I think the use of Dawn is preparatory to the initial clay bar application if you have not used Zaino previously:

Dawn is for first time only

...it helps remove any excess wax from any previous types of use because of it being highly alkalinic. After that, you use Z7 every time.

Use Dawn only once, it removes ALL the buildup...

Dawn will get rid of all the previous waxes, polishes, etc. and get you down to the bare paint.
THEN immediately was the car with Zaino's soap. From then on, only use Zaino's soap.

The only time you need to use dawn after that is if your car gets something other than Zaino used on it. For example, if your dealer washes your car after service and waxes it (usually they just use water, nothing else). Ask them not to wax it. If they do, you'll want to use dawn and start your Zaino process from scratch.

Two more quick Zaino questions...

1) After getting a new TTR, is there a "waiting period" before starting a Zaino routine? (is the paint too new, etc?)

2) Since the car is brand new, is Dawn still the first step?

answers for you . ..

When I got my car back in November 1999, I used Dawn the day after I took delivery. I then clay bar'd the car. Z-7, Z-1, Z-5, Z-6. The next weekend I did the same thing for the wheels as well. I also continued with the Z-7, Z-5/Z-2, Z-6 every weekend for the first 6 months+. Now I wash/wax once each month at a minimum.

Zaino actually lasts quite long on the car, but it just keeps looking better and better with each subsequent coat.

If you have NOT taken delivery of your TTR as of yet, then call your salesman up NOW and TELL him, don't ask him to NOT prep the exterior of the car. Tell him to have the plastic removed, but you want your car delivered to you DIRTY!

Do not even allow them to offer to hose it off and dry it! They are going to scratch your car, believe me, mine was ruined from dealer prep!
