Default 18" or 19" wheels on TTS

Should I get 18" or 19" wheels on the TTS I'm ordering? I dont mind the ride with the stock 18" wheels but I cant stand how they look. If I get 19" wheels will the ride become too harsh or will they get wrecked from potholes? I could also get a different style of aftermarket 18" wheels (I believe Hartmann makes a 7 spoke replica wheel that looks better) and put the stock tires on them. It would cost me more to get them, mount the tires and swap wheels though than the $800 for the 19" upgrade. The 19" wheel would also be covered by the audi warranty as aftermarkets would not. I'm also planning on having a set of winter wheels (either the swapped out stock 18" wheels with winter tires or a separate audi winter wheel package.)

Is there also a significant weight difference between the stock 18" or optional 19" wheels?

Also, are the 7 spoke 19" wheels stronger (+/or heavier) than the 5 spoke 19" wheels?

Default If you are doing winter, I would get the 19's there isn't going to be a real

noticeable ride difference between the 18's, and I think that is a myth from my experience. Unless you are going from a 60-75 series tire to a 30 series would you really notice the difference you are going from a 35 series to a 30 series 19-18. So when you put on your snows you will notice a difference but that is the diff between summers and winter tires. So get the 19's and use 18's for winter. If you hit any pot hole hard enough it will wreck a 17,18,19 regardless.

Default It isn't ... unless you bought a wheel/tire coverage package

when you bought your car. I did and it covers repair or replacment of flat tires for any reason, repair or replacement of wheels if bent or even if curb rash! Paid $500 for 4 years coverage. Worth it - I did the same with my wife's car (hers cost $400) and replaced one of the RFTs on her 328xi and basically broke even (considering mounting and balancing costs).

Default S-line 19's are actually lighter than either 18s according to reports...

From people on here that have weighed them:

s-line 19s = 27.xlbs / tire = 24 lbs = ~52lbs

Turbine 18s = 32 lbs / tire = 26 lbs = ~58lbs

10 Spoke 18s = 30 lbs / tire =26 lbs = ~58lbs

I don't know if all this is completely accurate as it's all been reported second hand. However, I'm getting a set of OEM s-lines in the next couple weeks and currently have the 18" turbines so I will weigh both before mounting and report back.

Default I got the 19"ers....

with Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S tires. It goes like a snowplow. I thrash the sh*t out my car with no problems from our local potholes, some even have some pretty good fishin' in 'em.
Bigga is betta!

Sound right - I weighed my 19" S-line wheels with the stock Michelin PS 255/35 tires and got 53 lbs.
