2011 TT vs 2011 TTS
Sorry if this issue has already been addressed, but I would like your opinions of these two beautiful options. The 2011 TT (211hp and 258 lb-ft) will have a base price of $38,300 vs TTS (265hp and 258 lb-ft) $47,000. Of course the TTS has the following significant extra equipment ( with my dollar value to me):
1.Magnetic Ride ($1,500)
2. Extra 54 hp, .4 sec faster to 60mph ($1,000)
3. 19" wheels ($1,000)
4. Double front grill ($500)
5. Alum Ext Mirrors ($500)
6. Alum shift paddles ($200)
7. Finer leather, stitching, etc. ($800)
8. Alum shift **** ($100)
9. "S" badging in & out ($ 300)
10. Quad exhausts ($500)
11. Ten way seats ($500)
12. Extra alum suspension ($500)
13. Lap timer ($100)
14. Rear diffuser ($100)
The extra equipment add up to about $7,600 which added to the base TT price of $38,300 would give me a justifiable TTS price of $45,900. Close to the actual $47,000. In other words, it seems that to me both cars are similarly priced.
I may have made wrong assumptions about options and certainly the dollar values may be off.
What do you guys think?
Thanks!

The 2011 TT has the newer EA888.
While the torque is similar with both engines, the juiced TTS engine has about 54 more ponies. It also has a timing belt versus the timing chain in the standard TT.
The standard TT does appear to be the better buy but personally I'm leaning towards the TTS.

I tend to agree that the perception is that the TT is better value.
I simplified my comparison: TT (w/ S-line package) vs base TTS, which in terms of equipment, brings the two cars much closer to each other. Similarly equip cars are now as follows:
TT (w/ S-line package)price w/ destination etc.= $46,545
55hp extra 1,000
Magnetic Ride? 1,200
Alum Mirrors 300
Bigger brakes 500
Total $49,545
TTS.......................................... $47,875
Navigation 2,000
Total $49,875
At purchase time, it seems that you are getting what you pay for--- that is, true equal value. The question then would be, if , at resale time, would most buyers pay a premium for the $3,000 that the TTS has in extra equipment (that you cannot get in the TT at any price).
Oh well, I am getting gray hairs, so I am going to enjoy what's left and go for the TTS. I will worry about the $3,000 in three years.
Thanks for the replies.

No they don't. The TTS has the previous gen EA113 engine but beefed up with stronger internals that the stock variant.
The 2011 TT has the newer EA888.

I'd love to see the two graphs together to verify what the actual power output is at any point along the graph. I can tell you that in a previous car (B6 A4 with BT), there was more lag with the GTRS turbo BUT it still put out more power across the entire power band.

Interestingly both cars have the same EPA rating.
I would love to drive both cars back to back but these days TT's of any kind are hard to find. My sales dude said that the A5 has cannibalized TT sales.
