Anyone regret going with DSG over manual, or vice versa?

Re: Anyone regret going with DSG over manual, or vice versa?
One of the biggest reasons I am moving to a TT is due to the S-tronic trans. I, for one, will not regret buying a DSG car. All the "real car guys" can enjoy becoming one with their cars and heel/toe shifting in stop and go traffic...

I wouldn't say I regret it but...
...it is taking some getting used to. It's cool in it's own right but I do miss the cummunication that you get with a real manual. The actual position of the shifter, the vibrations through it, feeling the engagement of the clutch, etc. For instance, I drive in manual mode exclusively and downshifting can be a bit problematic. The transmission handles it well but I can't as easily "feel" what gear I'm in. I find that I frequently have to look at the cluster. Most of the time I'm fine but a little too often I get confused and have to look. I'm actually thinking about getting a slightly louder cat back just to help me hear the revs better and gain a little more feedback from the car.
I don't want to paint DSG in a bad light though. It's an awesome tranny. Rev-matching downshifts rock and the fluid pull with no letting up between shifts is awesome. I'm not the least bit disappointed the TTS is DSG only for instance. I do however wish "D"rive were more aggressive or could be adjusted in some way. Then I might actually keep it in "D"rive on occasion.
I don't know what route I'd take if I had to do it all over again and had the choice available with the 2.0t motor. Either would be great. Although quattro would be nice. :/

Drove my friend's s2k a couple nights ago
and I do miss the clutch in, shift, clutch out action.
To me it's like different sports. Manual is like basketball (fast pace, running, sweating). DSG is like golf or bowling (slow pace, relax, simple motions).

Re: Whiner. Stop and go doesn't bother me in my 6MT.
2nd. 6spd FTW!
jk dsg guys, it's a great gearbox and all, it's just not a replacement for a real manual. a good compliment, yes. would I buy one, only if that was the only way to get a quattro.
