Audi TT Roadster 2014 Mk2 - Issue with Top
Hi, was wondering if someone can help. I have a 2014 Audi TT Roadster, only has 5,700 miles. My issue is with the Top. When I put the top down, it will not shut off the light and raise the windows at the end of the cycle of retracting the Top down. If I play with the switch and cycle the top up a little and down, it usually goes away. I have taken it to Audi three times ($189.00 each time) and they continue to tell me the Top is working as designed, even thought I brought it with the light and display saying top is not secured. Was hoping you can suggest a remedy since, the last time I cycled the top down, on the third try, the windows jerked up and down. It is intermittent. Thank YOU!!!

The problem is definitely your flap motors which are chronic failure points on the Mk 2 roadster. The motors have an optical window that senses the position of the top and gets covered with gunk over time, limiting their field of view and causing a position error. A flap motor failure will not always generate an error code the dealer can read. Cleaning the motor "windows" may solve the problem but it is difficult DIY to get to them. Dealers always replace the motor for about $800, double what it was about 5 years ago. I had the exact same symptoms and alerts which would usually clear with a recycle of the top with my 2011 roadster, twice. Once for each motor at different times.

Resolution: After four trips to the Audi Dealership. They indicated they found an Audi Bulletin to check the measured values for the closing latch and opening flaps. They found the flap motor spec outside of the tolerance . They adjusted into the tolerance and it working OK at this point... No Flap motor replacement.
