Default Excessive brake squeel

had minor brake squeel, about 1 in 5 stops.
Audi is aware, and dealer said they turned rotors. Now squeel is every stop, and worse,
Anyone else have the problem?

Default Yes.

Had the TSB service done as well. Squeal returned and persists.

Default will have it checked out again in a few weeks.

just got it back from 5K service, so not too keen on taking it in again. I want to see how things go, but so far it is worse after the TSB done.

Yep, getting some here. It comes and goes and I can usually ease up on the pedal to make it go away.

Default Funny you should mention that...

I picked up my car from the dealer last night after an oil change and mentioned to them about the "squeal" issue and the mechanic told me that I needed to use my brakes more... He told me these brake pads are made for heavy breaking (driving at high speed and needing to stop fast?). I'm going to try breaking harder for the next week to see.

Not sure why it started now after 10,000 km and not before?

Default Re: Excessive brake squeel

I would think it's the brake pad compound. If it's really bothersome, perhaps look into a softer daily drivable pad from one of the many companies making aftermarket pads.

I don't know that there's a slew of choices out there yet, but it shouldn't be long if it isn't!
