functionally there is no reason to put real mesh back there

Exactly. If there's no point in using real mesh, why use plastic fake mesh??

Default because real mesh would actually...

screw up air flow more than help it....it would ruin the channels of the center valence scoop...

i agree though, they could have just avoided the whole mesh thing completely...

i think it's just for style. i know other Audis have put this 'fake mesh' on them before as well.....makes it look a bit more aggressive, that's all.

Default I think we're in agreement. It's purely a styling cue that functionally makes no sense.

My complaint is the "cast" plastic implementation cheapens the car.
