Default Is the TT adaptive?

When I bought my 2009 TT the dealer told me to drive the car as I normally would rather than too gently. He said that for the first 5000 miles the car gathers data about your driving habits to try and optimize for fuel economy. So if you are too soft with the car initially the car will be optimized for slower initial acceleration. I suppose it's possible considering it's always calculating instantaneous as well as averaged MPG.

Has anyone else been told the same?

Default Yes (I think)

The motor and turbocharger are not adaptive. Your S tronic tranmission, however, is. There is a way to reset the logic settings. So you can take it easy and properly break-in all the components of your TT, then once it's broken-in, reset the transmission and go nuts.

You will need a VAG-COM for this. Please be forewarned, these steps are for VW's DSG transmission. I'm simply assuming it's the same thing for Audi's S tronic. But I can tell you that I did have this done on my 2008 R32 and it did, in fact, make quite a difference in shift points and aggressiveness.

Here is the procedure: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/6-Speed_Direct_Shift_Gearbox_%28DSG/02E%29

Default Re: Yes (I think)

If I broke it in softly and the transmission has subsequently "gone soft", but drive my next 2000kms aggressively, would the s-tronic "re-learn" my driving style?

Default I have actually heard to drive the car like you want from the start too...

I have been told that you want to drive the car normal to hard to get the seals to set right and that the car is more electronics now that the break in period isnt as bad. Now I didnt go track racing or anything but I drove my car like I do today and had it chipped by 1000 miles and all is good and it pulls hard.
