they're not comparable cars at all, IMO...
the majority of people who WILL buy SKYLINES are the type of people for whom the TTS will just not suffice......the weight of the 'Skyline' badge carries something very different than the weight of the 'TT' badge...
then the performance...totally different performance at all levels....not comparable.
I, PERSONALLY, would rather have a TTS.......but someone who truly WANTS a Skyline will laugh if you suggest the TTS as an alternative to the GTR.

YGFKM. Comparing the GT-R to the TTS? What's next, F430 Scuderia vs. TTS?
That journalist is an idiot for even mentioning the two cars in the same article. How are they at all comparable besides the fact they both have AWD and 2 doors?

What? Can I believe my eyes?? You finally said it!!!
And screw the rice burnin crap everso! !!
Their engineering all ways ends up sub par EVERY DAMN TIME!! I don't care which car you're talking about, but for some reason the Japanese flat out under engineer or just cut corners (typically, "IN THE ENGINE") that will come back and bite you in the ***!!
You want fast? Trade the MkI in, Buy a new TT/ TT-S/ TT-RS and build from there! For example take a new TT-RS at I guessing 64K then add 10K in mods... What would you have? I'm sure in the neighborhood of 480 to 650HP in a super light German engineered Quattro that will probably make the "too F'n heavy" Skyline look like the total piece of **** it is!
TRUST ME I WENT JAPANESE ONCE,,,
After 2 years of fighting with it all I wanted to do was park it on some abandoned road & pull out my 45 and put it out of its misery!
NEVER AGAIN...

uh, 10k in mods on an Audi doesn't get you anything.
Maybe a chip/downpipe/exhaust, good suspension and good brakes, with a little money left over for some decent tires. That's it.
Which is why when my wife gets the TT, I'm buying a '10 or '11 Mustang. 10k in a Mustang goes a LOT farther
