What to watch out for in a used MK2 TT
Hi All,
I'm sorry if my questions have been answered elsewhere. But my attempts to search the forum have left me not able to find all the information I need.
I'm doing research on a new car. I live in Denver and want an AWD coupe to drive all year around and up to the mountains during snow season. The TT is definitely a top choice of mine in terms of looks and performance (I'm currently deciding between the TT and the G37x from infinity).
#1) Is the TT a reliable car?
#2) What should I look out for when purchasing a used MK2 TT? What is prone to failure? How to check these pieces myself? What will an Audi mechanic be able to spot easily? What will they not be able to see until its too late?
#3) I've also read that the longevity of a TT is based on how well it was serviced. What services need to be conducted and at what intervals? I'm not planning on buying a car with more than 75K on it, so I only need the information up to 75K.
#4) How important is it that the service was done at the Audi dealer?
#5) I've read about the oil consumption issues with the Audi 2.0T engine, do these issues affect the TT? Can these issues be summarized for me because I've heard of audis simply failing and blowing a piston? How serious of a concern is this for the TTs? I was actually pretty shocked to learn that the 2.0T engine had any issues since they've been around in some form or another for 25 years...
#6) Is a TT a good daily driver?
I guess ultimately I've never purchased a car for myself that will cost as much as a used TT and I want to be very dilligent...
Thanks
Brian
