I'm paying cash for my TT and I want to put it on my American Express Card to get credit for points worth about $350. Understand this card is my UBS debit card with funds taken directly from my UBS management account. I told the salesman I'd let them run the card thru a few days early so it would clear before I took ownership. He said they could't do that.

Before I try to go up the food chain, I'd like to know, am I crazy?

Just bought a Touareg, tried the same but no dice. Let me put $5000 down with the credit card, but they actually had signs everywhere saying they would only allow that much on the credit cards. Same happened when I bought the TT. It's annoying, but would eat into their profit pretty fast, I guess.

Up to $5k, after that you can charge as much as you want if you pay the 2% fee.

My dealer let me charge up to 10k on my card.
Most dealers that I know have a maximum amount you can charge on a card.
