Headlight Indicator
I drove 6 hrs in pouring rain today. I always keep my headlights in the "auto" position. How do I know when the headlights, and therefore the rear lights also, are actually on? I made my way through most of the owners manual tonight trying to figure out if there's an indicator light.....I couldn't find a thing mentioned.
It does appear that on the headlight switch dial itself the lights there come on and off. Are those the indicators?

Yes, the illuminated status symbols adjacent the auto setting. Related: I have my running lights on at all times which is an MMI selection.

okay this makes sense that the status symbols actually show the status.....like duhhhh. Regarding your statement on DRL's.......do you mean that they are also on when your headlights are on? I believe mine are too, but need to check this stuff.

Yes, the DRL's are always on, if checkbox-selected. btw: I recently turned down the interior [particularly due to footwell] lights as had them set too bright for a long nighttime trip.
