Default Wireless Charging on our TT?

Hello all!

Wondering if there’s an OEM solution for wireless charging cellphones? Initial search seems to suggest EU cars have that as an option, can we add that or retrofit it? If not, any 3rd party solution that you would recommend?

Thanks!

USB power adapters that plug in what used to be called cigarette lighters and are now power plugs can be bought on eBay for a few $. That's what I do for mu iPhone.

I'm wondering if a retrofit would be possible also.

There is this phone box Qi charging unit and antenna combo in the database, part 81A035502. I don't know if it can retrofit into a car, though.

Phone box with wireless Qi charging was added to the 2019 TT-RS. Wonder if it is the same part.

Anyone knows if it can fit in an iPhone 8 Plus or iPhone XS Max in the 2019 TTRS?

Yes if it's not in a case.

Yes, but - if you have it connected to a lightning cable for Carplay, you have to put the phone in with the lighting end to the back of the box. It can be a pain to get the cable in the right place. Plus, once attached to the lightning cable, the wireless charging is useless.

Yeah, it's a squeeze to get the phone in the box with the cable attached.

What I like the most is my clearmounts phone holder. There is a wireless charging option, too. Somewhere on the forum, I remember someone hiding the power cable by guiding it from the box through the vent?

The antenna boost is the big selling point of the box.

And to clarify, at the back of the box is a "notch" that allows the lightning connector to slot into, allowing even my iPhone Xs Max to fit, but without the case. It is also a PIA to get the phone back out of the box.
