1999 A6 Trottle Body DTC's Need Help
Can't figure out these codes. The car runs rough and will not idle for more than a few seconds. I have tried to remove the throttle body and it's a pain from the looks of things. Before I do that I thought I would seek some help first. Any help would be much appreciated. Here are the codes.
Thanks Tony.

TB Adaptation Trouble
Can't seem to figure out how to do the Adaptation for TB. Haven't done this before and seem to have hit a wall. Can I trouble you again in pointing the way? I know how to clear readiness codes. Is this how you get to the TB Adaptation? Thanks again.

However, given your fault codes, this procedure is unlikely to be successful.

Runs Good
Hey Bruce and Ewe. The procedure worked. Before I was not able to clear the codes and now I can. The problem has gone away. I believe it was brought on by a low voltage on battery. I replaced it and the problems started. I would have never thought that a battery change would cause this problem.
Great program and great help. I will give it a good road test and post final results tomorrow. Thanks again.

Whenever you loose voltage to the ECU, the ECU no longer knows the position of the throttle. For this reason, a throttle body adaptation or alignment is needed for the ECU to learn the fully open and fully closed positions.
Remember that as the cars mover to a "drive by wire" setup with no direct connection between the gas pedal and the throttle, that the throttle is controlled exclusively by the ECU through motors. The gas pedal becomes a sensor. For the ECU to control properly, it needs to know where the throttle is located.
Your car is a cable throttle car I believe. Even so, they used sensors to know the position of the throttle which is why you needed to do the adaptation when the battery lost power.

Bring Your LapTop
Good to know. It also reminds me to take my laptop when we go on long trips in case the battery goes on vacation. This way you can be in the middle of the desert and fix the problem.
Thanks again.
