Default Adding Remote 2000 A6

What is needed to add a remote to a 2000 A6?

How many remotes can the car remember at one time?

Thanks in advance.

Off the top my head I would think:
  • IMMO may need upgrading
  • CCM may need upgrading
  • antennas and cables [there were 7 or 8 in my 2005 A8]
  • adaptation via VCDS

Newer models can handle 5 keyfobs, not sure about a 2000.
May want to see if anyone has done this retrofit in the model specific forum.

Jack over at www.FixMyEuro.com would certainly know the answer to this as he's one of the few Audi approved locksmiths.

Sorry for the confusion.

The car has remote entry (Key fob with switch blade key)

I want to add a third (and maybe a forth) remote to the two the factory supplied.

Ah, OK sorry I misunderstood.

Have a look at this http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Immobilizer
I think your vehicle has Immo 2

All the information I have found says the 2000 A6 does not have immobilizer.

I will double check, but I did not notice a Key light on the dash.

Which still leaves open the question about the remotes.

I think I was looking at the wrong chassis before... been one of those weeks

See here for remote matching: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...ial_Procedures

Edit: If you see module 25 in an Auto-Scan then it has an immo
I do this as a hobby to assist other Audi owners... think it might be time to spring for the PL24 and erWin subscription to help me keep it all straight!

Default Adding New Fobs But Don't Want to Clear Old One

I had only 1 key & fob for several years & finally got around to getting more keys.
I bought 2 new keys w/ fobs & just got my keys cut by mobile locksmith. He tried programming the new fobs but it wouldn't work. I have VAGCOM & will try this method. I have 1 old key & fob & didn't want to clear that one, but just program the new ones. Do you know how to check which memory position goes with the old fob, so I don't clear it by accident.

The ross-tech wiki page doesn't seem to tell me how I check which memory goes with my old working fob.
AND can someone explain the info under coding shown below. I don't understand what to do with that.
Coding
VCDS will display a coding chart a pop-up balloon while connected to the vehicle. Add the sum of the options to configure the correct coding
