allroad VAG-COM anomoly

allroad VAG-COM anomoly
VAG-COM seems unable to talk to my interior monitor controller. Is this a known problem with either VAG-COM or allroads?
Specifically, when I try to open Controller 45 - Interior monitor in my 2001 alroad, I get the "No response from controller " pop-up message. I can talk to the engine and other controllers just fine. The Bentley shows 45 as the correct contoller address for A6's and makes no exception for the allroad.
I'm using Hex-USB and running VAG-COM release 404.0-US. Any clues?
