Do I need a VAG-Com?
I live in NW Arkansas, without an Audi Dealership anywhere near home (120+ miles, Tulsa, OK). I've recently had the CEL come on and tested the car with the OBDII reader, resulting in the following codes:
P0491, P0492 and P0444.
I beleived these were all related the Secondary Air Injection system. I checked the fuse and relay in the Ebox (plenum chamber) and they were OK. Also checked the vaccum hose on top left side of the engine, -which was unplugged- and plugged it in and secured it in place with a clip.
Then proceeded to erase the codes and went out for a drive. Nothing showed up for a full day, and then, this morning after driving to work, the CEL showed up again. Checked again with the OBDII and got the P0491 & 92 fault codes.
I think I'm going to dive deeper into this to solve it if I want the CEL to be gone for good.
Also, after I changed my CV Boots, the ABS - Traction Control lights started to show up on a random basis (every now and then...)
Should I get the Ross-Tech or settle for the OBDII Reader? (The OBD I have is not mine, so no need to pay for that).
Also, should I get a Bentley repair manual, or is there something similar available from Ross-Tech?
The car is a 2001 A6 V8.
Thanks in advance.

Also, can the tiptronic transmision be reprogrammed with it? Does this require any special mechanical or computer skills? (Bear in mind, I can sometimes feel challenged by an XBox...)
Thanks,
Andres G
