Default Looked at 2007 A8L today, screen was stuck up!

Greetings all,

I'm very new to the Audi world and i'm glad that I have this forum to rely on. I looked at an A8L today but I noticed that the MMI screen would not move up or down even when pushing the manual button. It was stuck in the up position. The mileage was at 64,111, not too bad for the year. But I noticed that there were 3 previous owners in the Carfax report. The dealer was trying really hard to get me to bite on the deal for $14,000 but I was just too hesitant especially being new to Audi and that the screen was not operating as it should. So what is the average repair cost for when those screens get stuck and don't budge. Thanks.

There might not be anything wrong with it, the previous owner could have installed a switch to leave it up which many of us D3 owners have done. Now, finding the switch could be another issue. Try looking somewhere on the US passenger side near the middle console or up near the bottom of the glove box door. The control module is under the passenger side foot area so it is probable a switch may have been installed somewhere in that area.
