New ECM problems

New ECM problems
So long story short, I had a mishap where I ended up frying my ECM in my 2013 A4 (CPMA). I’ve since got another one from the salvage yard and had a guy reprogram it. He didn’t have my “Mac” number so he just sent the ecm home with me with the immobilizer disabled. The car starts and runs fine, it just doesn’t want to recognize my transmission now. Not only will it not go into gear period, but it won’t show me the gear selector info either.
I actually picked up two ECM’s around the same gear with the same engine code. The one he hasn’t flashed, when I plug that in it’ll show the gear selector info and doesn’t trigger a ECM/TCM incompatible error. So basically my question is, what step is he missing in the process of reprogramming this ECM?

I guess just to add to the info, The ECM that's currently in the car came from a doner of the same engine code (CPMA), But now that it's been reprogrammed, VCDS is reading it as XXXX. Could that be the reason the transmission has no idea what's going on?
