no response from controller error

Hello from Sydney.

I have a 2006 Audi A4 2.0t Quattro B7
That I’ve installed a RNS-E, (8E0-035-192-T) into.

I’ve also installed the factory Bluetooth box (8PO 862 335 N) and factory Mic.

Everything is up and running fine and the phone is working. But the multi function steering wheel buttons don’t work with the phone ( like they did on my A3) and the phone number or Nav info doesn’t come up on the red DIS display.

When I connect the vagcom ( latest version) it can’t see 19 canbus or 77 Telephone I get the no response from controller error. I can see the RNSE OK the soft coding for the RNSE 0301715
I tried to change the 7 to a 5 or 6 to see if that was the problem but it gave me the request out of range error.

I’m a novice with the Vag-com, any ideas on how to get this working?

Rick here is the same response I posted to this question on OzAudi.

Is the Bluetooth module brand new?

Are you sure you've connected the K line (diagnostics wire) to the Bluetooth module properly?

Assuming the K line is connected properly, my concern is that it has been installed in a CAN based car (of which the B7 A4 is not) such as the 8P A3, and is therefore coded as such and will not see a K line diagnostics connection.

If that is the case, the bluetooth module needs to be refitted to a CAN based car, recoded and then installed in the B7 A4, otherwise you won't be able to get VCDS to see it if interrogating it in the B7 A4.
