Recurring 17544 Code

Keep getting a CEL after approx 75 miles after clearing.

Fault code :
1 Fault Found:
17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean
P1136 - 35-00 - -

Car is 01 A4, AWM. Small diameter vac lines all replaced. Fuel trim #'s at 5.7 and 10.9%

Any ideas?

some things to check

I was just dealing with the same lan conditions on my S4. Could be the MAF of course, although your trim values look OK. lean condition can be caused by clogged injectors or a fuel filter(probably get misfires though?) I don't know if it's relavent to you, but I found some vacuum hoses deteriorated connecting my bypass valves. I replaced the BPV's, hoses and MAF on mine and it's running much better, no lean codes. ECS tuning had a rebuilt MAF for about $85 and BPVs for $30 each. vacuum hose from local Autozone. I got tired of trying to diagnose everything so I did the shotgun approach.

Thanks! Tightened the clamp on the MAF outlet, cleaned debris out of the airbox bottom, and just did 800+ hwy miles with no CEL. Trim numbers were both in the 4 to 5 range.

Then, 50 city miles, and got the light again. Shotgun approach might be the way to go. I'll post results as I get 'em.

Found a tear in the larger dia vac line (L-shaped). Strangely enough, my trim numbers were staying in the 6% range, but the CEL lit up again. I noticed that secondary air injection readiness never reset, double checked that circuit, and found the problem.
