Vagcom compatibility issue
Hello.
Interesting problem. I scanned my friend's S6+ C4 with my hex-usb+can cable using the 2x2 adapter. It couldn't connect to the ECU but it connected to the instruments and Klima. Nothing I could do could get it to talk to the ECU.
Then I tried with my friends NON-can ross tech cable and it talked to the ECU with ZERO problems.
HOWEVER, his cable kept getting rejected by the instruments module (too many communication errors) whereas MY cable worked fine with the instruments.
Also his cable found and could talk to the immobiliser module (25) and mine didn't even see it.
What's going on? Why won't my cable work properly with the S6+?

Please update to 908.2 - the current version and see if this problem still occurs. It should not. There is no reason why you should be seeing flaky communications.
You can also download and try the Beta 10.3 or 10.4 versions since all are free. The Beta versions can live alongside the current version 908.2 without any negative effects. So, please try some of the more recent versions to see if that will help.

I can't see an update making any difference unless this issue is specifically addressed in the new version(s). Is it?
It also doesn't explain why the KII cable and Hex_usb+can cable had different results. According to the Audi 100 / A6 Application Chart, both should work.
I only tried the KII cable out of sheer desperation because I couldn't connect to the ECU.
Neither cable could connect to the central locking (35).

If you are a registered user of VCDS, then call our tech support line when you are connected to the car. The problems you are experiencing may require that some of the comm parameters get tweaked.
You may also have a module in the car that is causing the crazy communication problems. So, like I said, if a registered user, contact us during business hours for more help.
