what's the diffrent between TWIN-USB and HEX-USB?

HEX-USB connects faster, samples faster, etc.

I'll preface this by saying that I know almost nothing about the VAG-Com software, but I'm thinking
of purchasing it. Are there any future plans to take advantage of the faster sampling rate of the Hex-USB to add additional features (that might not be available with the regular cables)?

I don't know, but I would assume that if you are ..
logging any info, a higher sampling rate will give youo more accurate data? don't know why else it matters. if you are just going to use it to check for faults, and change your lighting options etc. I would go for the cheapest available option. if you are going to use it to log active data while driving. I would go for the higher sampling.

You right, but
very soon it will be very difficult to find laptop with COM-port and every laptop has few USB available.
As for me - I bought HEX-USB to be independent on laptop brand/options (hate to think what I have to buy laptop with com-port to be able to use VAG-COM)...

makes sense, now I regret buyin the com-port one.
but i do like that it can be screwed in to prevent disconnecting it when moving it about.
And I just re-upped on my lap-top so I should be good for a couple years.
