Default Repair sanity check

Wondering if any gearheads can help me sanity check a repair estimate I have for a 1996 A4.

The work order states "tire rods are loose, R&L axle books are broken, control arm bushings broken." The car was handling very poorly in the front.

Originally they quoted a single control arm per wheel. It was just changed to 2 per wheel and I want to make sure this is correct. The entire job looks to be about $2,000 before tax:

Remove/replace left & right axile
Replace both front wheel bearings
Replace tire rod ends
Replace upper control arms
Alignment

I planned on selling this in 6 months private party when getting a new car. I think I have to get this work done to get a decent price but it is a big chunk of change.

Thanks for any help. I can upload the work order later if that helps.
